In an hour it will be Friday! And you all know how much I like Fridays!

Yesterday I took the kids to a new doctor's office. Well, two of the four. They would only make appointments for two at a time. So the other two are going next week (if I can't reschedule it...we have an entire day full of appointments). Anyway....very nice office! I switched for a variety of reasons. The main one being I wanted a practice that was fine with us not vaccinating the kids without being pushy about it all. Of course she did ask why (which I was expecting so no big deal there) and gave me a little speech about why they think the Pertussis vax is important. I just listened and nodded. But she didn't offer it to me or anything, just gave the information. So I appreciated that.

Emily also got her stitches out!!! She did great! Just sat there nice and still and didn't flinch at all. Her cut looks like it's healing up quite nicely.

I think next week we're just going to focus on History and Science. Em needs to finish up her Math test but that won't take her long. I have our three-week Christmas break set to start on the 17th. However, next week we are going to be SO stinking busy!! I really don't see how we'll get anything done. Thursday is the only clear day on my calendar. So I think we'll spend bit of time before lunch each day (except for Wednesday because we won't be home at all) on those two subjects.

Come January I want to make some changes in our schooling (like probably a million other Homeschooling Moms are planning to do). First of all I'm going to buy a new baby gate. I must have a way to contain Matthew in his bedroom for the days (which is pretty much everyday) that he only naps an hour. Or days like today when he napped for THIRTY MINUTES!!!!! I simply can not have him disrupting, climbing on, and into things while we're trying to get work done. He does like to play with playdough but he's two and that activity lasts about 10 minutes. So with a functional baby gate he can wake up and have Quiet Time until the girls are done with school (or close to being done).

I am also going to try a more structured day. We'll see how long that lasts. But I want to try it. Emily is going to have set times for her subjects. Some days she does great but others it will take her over an hour do to Spelling! She's the type that absolutely loves(!!) setting a timer and trying to beat the clock. So we're going to do that and if it's not done, she will work on it in the car going to get Daddy or after dinner.

I really want to start her on some Critical Thinking work (Kahri...got a link for the stuff you use?). And I'm also going to start requiring some book reports.

All in all..I'm just kicking it up a notch. Bam!

And with that little update, I guess I am off to bed. Matthew went to bed fairly early (did I mention he only napped for THIRTY MINUTES???) and Kev put him to bed so I've had a nice Mommy break this evening. Hopefully tonight I won't have to get up and let the cat outside...then inside and feed him...then outside again. And hopefully Matthew will sleep later than 6am before coming into our room.

I can only hope.

You are so funny with your Friday thing!! Friday is just another day for me! I think I actually like Mondays because it is (supposed to be) a fresh start and it has so much potential! Fridays make me bummed about all that didn't get done! LOL.

I like your ideas for school. I use Critical Thinking Press for my kids. When Britty is done with that she will get the Logic that is mentioned for Logic stage in WTM. I can't remember at the moment what it is.
