Did you know that a trip to the local yarn store is an educational experience??
It is!!
We took a little break from our school day to take Big Daddy to his carpool ride and the yarn store was just around the corner. Since I needed to pick up some yarn for baby hats, we stopped in.
Earlier this morning when I told the girls we would be going, they started explaining how it would still be like doing school. Here are some of their explanations:
Art: Obviously
Math: How much yardage does your pattern require? How many skeins of your chosen yarn will you need?
Science: What type of fiber is the yarn made of? How do the types of fiber differ from one another?
Language Arts: You need to know how to read so that you can read the labels.
History: Considering all of the people before us who have been doing fiber arts, spinning yarn, etc.
Critical Thinking: If you don't want to use the yarn listed in the pattern, what yarn can you use to substitute?
