I have a few minutes to share a little about my time at the midwifery conference.

After we arrived Wednesday evening we didn't do much other than check into our hotel and go out for a bite to eat.

Thursday morning there were some pre-conference workshops. The first was a test for Neonatal Resuscitation certification. Took a test and did some hands-on practice. The next was a suturing workshop which was fun. I knew a little about all that from watching a video Tiffany has but it was fun getting some hands-on practice. We each had a foam block, sutures, and instruments. We cut a open slit in the foam to mimic a torn vaginal wall and perineum. Then we used the sutures and instruments to practice suturing. The last workshop was CPR recertification. That night we went down to the Kemah Boardwalk for dinner. We spent the evening at the Cadallic Restaurant just hanging out by the water.

The conference started Friday morning and we also switched hotels. The first two nights we didn't stay at the place where the conference was being held, South Shore Harbor Resort and Conference Center. It was so much nicer being there and having our room right upstairs. The first workshop was with Elizabeth Gilmore (she's the one at the top, in the hat, holding the baby) Basically she just shared about her experiences as a midwife. The next workshop was on Obesity in Pregnancy with Happy Barnes, which was very interesting! After lunch we sat through a workshop by Shonda Parker on Herbal Medicine for Pregnancy and Childbirth.

I'll have to write later about Saturday's workshops. I need to go fix lunch for the little monkeys.
