Ramblings

I am so glad that many of you enjoyed my last blog entry and Thank You to those who commented.  If you didn't enjoy it and didn't comment...well...I probably still like you.

My hope is to get around to blogging more and having some fun and maybe thought-provoking topics.  Anything you lovely readers would like to see discussed?  Comment away!!

For now we'll just begin with some random ramblings.

Last week we started our second semester.  So far, so good.  We have found some flow to our morning work (the subjects that are mostly done together).  The Write Foundation curriculum is going well so far.  At this point it is pretty easy for my older girls but what is being taught is building a good foundation for later.  The younger three are doing a human body study.  Right now we are focusing on the external senses and last week the kids learned about smell and taste.  One tidbit of information their midwife-mama passed on was how babies in the Mama's tummy can taste and how the baby uses the amniotic fluid.  Of course the six year old son of mine thought it was particularly hilarious and amazingly disgusting that the baby uses the fluid to swallow and process through the body, including urinating.  And of course I was quick to remind them that the amniotic fluid is routinely regenerating.

That is Lulu.  Or is it Louis?  We're not sure.  The kids have heard him/her trying to crow in the mornings when they go to let the chickens out.  If this is, in fact, Louis it is a very quiet rooster.  A rooster who has been put in his place by a smaller, more vocal hen.

I've been staying plenty busy (you know, because I have WAY too much time on my hands) with Via Vita coursework, mostly trying to get some books finished.  In addition to that I have been working on new informational handouts, waivers, and documents for my practice.  On Friday I have a new client coming in and my goal is to have a new client binder put together by then.

And on that note, I leave you with a beautiful home birth video!
