The Lightening Births Continue

I realized that I forgot to blog about the last birth we had!!

Actually there's not much to blog about.  It went something like this:

3:37am - Tiffany called me.  Client, J., has called her three times since Midnight.  Contractions at Midnight were 55 seconds and coming every 10 minutes, every four if she was walking around the house.  An hour late they were a little closer together.  At the last call they were three to four minutes apart but still just 55 seconds long.  Since I live just about THREE MILES from J's house, Tiffany asked if I would go over and just check and see what was going on.

3:48am - I was in the bathroom getting ready, brushing my teeth in fact, when J's husband called me.  "This is J's husband.  Tiffany said you might be coming over to check on J.  Um....you need to hurry."  I didn't hear him clearly at first so I asked him to repeat, "...hurry or don't hurry??".  He replied, "You need to hurry!"  I told him I would be out the door in five minutes.

3:56am - I had just turned out of our neighborhood when my phone rang again.  It was J's husband telling me I needed to hurry....she's pushing.  Then I hear, in the background, "HONEY!!!  HURRY!!  AAAAHHHHHhhhh...HONEY...HIS HEAD...COME CATCH HIM!!!!"  And he hung up.

3:58am - He called back and let me know the baby was there.  I asked how he was doing.  Moving?  Crying?  Then I heard the sweet little wail in the background.

I arrived right at 4:00am.  Did the usual assessments, the newborn exam, kept an eye on the Mama and baby, and gathered things up to go home.

We joked with her four days prior at her prenatal that the last two clients labored/birthed quickly and so we expected her to follow suit.  But we didn't expect her to go faster than the other two!!!!  ;)
