WAITING
Even from the very beginning. You interview with a potential client and sometimes you wait to hear back from them.
During pregnancy it's really all about waiting. We meet roughly fourteen times (that all depends on when they begin care with us) during the pregnancy. The majority of those visits are simply talking and getting to know one another. But really, we're all just watching and waiting on time to pass and for the little one to grow.
At the end of pregnancy it's ALL about the waiting. Being on-call is just about waiting. Wondering when the phone will ring. And when it does, waiting until it's time for us to go be with them.
Once we get there.....we wait. Some births are more demanding than others. There is plenty to keep you moving and busy (and SORE the next day!!!). But for the most part, everyone is just waiting. You can't control it (welllll...you shouldn't). You just wait for each contraction to bring her closer to the end of the process.
