One of my favorite blogs to read is The Idea Room. She has such cute and creative ideas on her blog!! I came across one entry the other day that I HAD to try!! Our kitchen has been invaded by fruit flies for the last few weeks. I had tried a few tricks that absolutely did not work.

One was with apple cider vinegar. Nope.

Another was on accident, apple cider with a touch of Jim Beam (Hey...don't laugh..it was Kev's idea to try and it's REALLY good!!!!). Had a tiny bit in a shot glass that I was going to come back to later so I sat it on the window sill. When I came back, it was full of fruit flies!! However, when I tried it again the other day to catch them, it didn't work.

Then I saw her funnel/jar idea at The Idea Room. Gave it a shot and it worked!!!! You can go to her blog to see pictures (her pictures are much better than mine..lol). Basically you take a jar or cup (mine is in a spaghetti sauce jar), a piece of paper, some tape, and a bit of banana. Form the paper into a funnel with a small hole at the bottom. Put the piece of banana in the container then the funnel. Tape around the edge of the container and paper so the flies can't escape that way. Then just set it out where your fruit flies are hovering. They will go in but they can't get out!
