If you know me at all, you know I absolutely love Goodwill. It's my favorite place.
Today was their 1/2 off sale for clothes, shoes and purses. So we were there when the doors opened at 9:00am. We started (as always) in the children's clothing section. Normally I can pick up clothes for $1.99 each. So obviously today we were ready to look for good deals! I have a very hard time shopping for my kids at other stores now. I just can't justify spending a lot of money on clothes they are going to outgrow in a few months when I can find new or very much like new items (and many time nice name-brand stuff) for $2 at Goodwill. The kids didn't need much. I was looking more for Gracie and Matthew some new things.
Anyway, two hours later (yes, two hours...it was busy and I had four kids with me...we also had to wait about 10 minutes for a dressing room) we left with:
Em:
Jeans
Velour "cozy" pants
Pull-over sweater
Abby:
Sweater cardigan (Gymboree)
Gracie:
Skirt (very bohemian and very "Gracie-esque")
4 long-sleeve shirts
Matthew:
Running pants
(Keeping track so far?? Yes, I got all that for $10)
Each of the girls got a new purse ($2 each) and Matthew found a new Buzz Lightyear backpack ($1...a great find because his library backpack is getting too small and the zipper broke a few weeks ago).
I found a cute nighty ($2), very cozy sweater/jacket (Old Navy..$3) and a turtle-neck sweater ($3) for myself.
I have a very hard time finding clothes for myself there that doesn't look like I just walked out of a nursing home in 1983. Every so often I come across things in the Junior's section that fit my bustage.
Other treasures we found are:
- Buzz Lightyear doll ($.25)
- Webkinz dog (no tag of course..$.25)
- Two glass canisters ($1 and $2)
- A beautiful little teacup and saucer ($1)
- A beautiful wooden box with mirror inside (somewhat plain but it has character already and I am going to use as a jewelry box..$3)
- A wooden picture frame ($1)
- A book with cross-sections of castles, pyramids and something else ($.50)
- A Barbie coloring book (that Gracie HAD to have..lol..$.99)
- Snowman candy dish ($.75)
And last but not least, what may be my greatest treasure of all at Goodwill so far.....
Norman Rockwell: Artist and Illustrator by Thomas Buechner

If you scroll down there at Amazon you can see just how huge this book is. I absolutely love it!!!! So many prints and history behind the artist and the paintings. Beautiful book!!
