Ta-Da!!!
Did everyone miss me??
Apparently it's been over a week since I posted something here.
Let's see......
Last weekend was a bit crazy. Kev observed one football game on Friday night and then worked a little kids' football tournament all day (and I mean...ALL day...I had him at E. BA High at 5:30AM and he was done at Midnight). Then last Sunday we took the kids to the Oklahoma Science Museum. There had been a slight possibility that he was going to work a basketball game at the Ford Center and we had tentative plans to be down there anyway. But after such a crazy weekend we decided to take a day trip together anyway. :) It was a lot of fun!! We ended up paying the $28 difference for a year's membership.
We didn't get much school work done last week. Being gone all day Sunday meant I didn't get the week's lessons planned out. But it was a nice break (and one of the perks of year-round schooling) and I also needed to do some reorganizing.
I created new lesson plan sheets. For a while I've had everything on one page. But that meant some of the spaces were really small!! So it was hard to write in any extra work if I needed to (for example, "Emily - pgs. 87-88 & work on research paper" was hard to get in the small space). So I made a sheet for the subjects we do together and then created individual sheets for the girls. This way they each have a folder with their assignments in it, they can check off work as they do it, and I can put in extra notes if I need to. We'll see how it goes.
I also regrouped for our study of the states. What we had been doing flopped. The girls were bored and not learning anything. I got the Trail Guide to U.S. Geography. I re-did their binders and made one for Gracie. So we started that today and hopefully they'll enjoy this more and will actually learn something.
Right now I'm searching for a book to help teach the Presidents. I found one on Amazon that looks like something they would enjoy, Have Fun with the Presidents. I'm still looking though and thinking about how to do that study. The girls really enjoy doing stuff like the activities/projects they have in the book.
That's enough for now. Tonight is my last childbirth class for this particular group and I need to get ready. I don't think I'll do it all in six weeks again. It really needs eight weeks. We went over the two hours almost every week and didn't get to everything like I wanted to. Tonight I have to cram breastfeeding and newborn care into two hours (keep in mind I have a chest cold and sound like a 60 yr old man) plus have some time for chit-chat and snacks when we're done. So that should be fun......
