Monday again. Yay.
Let's see...since it's been so long since I last wrote anything here...
School is good. I bought new English for the older two girls. I am switching them to First Language Lessons (1+2 for Abby and 3 for Em). They are really excited because they were getting bored with the Rod & Staff. I'm not switching Gracie to their phonics program because #1 she enjoys the R&S Phonics #2 I just bought workbooks for Units 2-5 not long ago.
We are getting ready to learn a little about the Indians on the east coast. Some of the tribes that were present when the early explorers came to America. I have a few activities picked out for the next couple of weeks so hopefully the girls will enjoy that.
I came across this today - Ina May on MSNBC
I have decided to switch to self-study for my midwifery schooling. While I think the Midwife-To-Be program is a good one for many ladies, I'm just not satisfied. There isn't much feedback from the owner/instructor. I get more and hands-on experience through my apprenticeship. The exams are not over unit reading assignments (i.e. Varney's, Helping Hands, Maternal Newborn Nursing and Women's Health Care, etc), they are over the other book reading. And while she does have some meatier books on that list (i.e. Medical Terminology), most are what I call fluff. They are books that have information that most coming into midwifery hopefully already know (i.e. Active Birth, Bradley book, etc). So there isn't anything I will really be loosing by doing self-study. I can use the MTB units as a guide for organizing my learning and I'll still keep track of my study hours and clinicals. And I also have printed off the NARM PEP Process paperwork. This paperwork I need to follow anyway since MTB is not a MEAC school. Those attending a MEAC school have a slightly different path to receiving their CPM credentials. Anyway. That's what I'm doing.
And on that subject. There's a chance I may do my first catch in May. :)
