Guess what today is!!!

That's right....Friday! Aren't you excited?!

Highlights of our day:

A trip to my favorite neighborhood Goodwill. We found so many treasures today!!! All of this for $15!
- Another canister which I'll use for my unbleached white flour
- A small canister that I'm not sure what I'll use for yet
- A pretty green glass candy/deco dish
- 3 bread basket cloth cross-stitch books
- 5 school books, published in the 1050's, that are just wonderful! Em found one about Space that is hilarious. I told her we needed to get that one just for the history of it all! We also got Animals and Their Babies, Monkeys, Birds, and Flowers/Plants.
- A paperback storybook for Gracie
- Michael Creighton's Next
- Tom Clancy's Executive Orders
- Billy Graham's autobiography, Just As I Am

I started a load of laundry!

I made lunch.

I emptied and reloaded the dishwasher.

Later we're going to the library, post office and WalMart (don't you hate it when you get groceries and forget one stinking little jar of mushrooms!!! Ugh.).

As you can see, it's been so very productive here. I'm trying to enjoy it though because Monday we're really back to our routine.

I tried the crock-pot oatmeal. At first I wasn't that impressed but the more I ate, the more I liked it! The steel-cut oats have a really cool texture to them! So...here's the recipe:

Crock pot Steel-Cut Oatmeal
Servings: 8

2 cups steel-cut oatmeal
8 cups of water
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 c brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 apples diced
1 cup raisins

Spray crockpot. Add the ingred. and cook on low for 8 hours.
Sprinkle with brown sugar and serve.
256 cal - 6 fat - 4 fiber

Don't skip the "Spray crockpot" step! I almost forgot and used some olive oil spray.
I think next time I'm going to grease it up really good with some coconut oil instead.

I have never used steel-cut oatmeal before although I have heard of it before. Where do you buy them? Any store, specialty store like Wild Oats or order from co-op or online?
