Today was the first time I was with someone when they heard their baby's heartbeat for the very first time!!
I got to the prenatal late because Em and I chased the d*** dog for 20 minutes trying to get her in the house. Usually when we leave I put her on this "chain" thing (not really a chain...) so she doesn't dig under the fence while we are gone (if anyone has any tips to make them stop doing that PLEASE tell me!!!!!). She thought I was going to do that but I wasn't. Thankfully it doesn't look like she dug.
ANYWAY....when I got there they were searching for the heartbeat. :) It took a couple of minutes but she found it up higher than usual. I realized when I was on my way to pick up K. from work that I have never been with someone at that moment! Of course I was with myself when we heard OUR babies for the first time....but this was such a different experience (obivously..lol). I really can't explain it other than it was just one more thing that spoke to my heart that I am on the right path. :)
And now here we are at home (K. got off early because the school shut down this afternoon) and here we will stay until at least Sunday. Not sure if they will cancel church or not. If they do I hope that maybe someone can give K. a ride so we don't have to get the kids out early on the slick roads.

Okay, about your dog. I have heard (and Michael's brothers both attest to this) if you make a "window" in your fence (using chain link or something) that they won't try to dig or jump out anymore. We haven't had the jumper problem (just the run away as quick as you can if you get loose problem) and I have chain link fences most of the way around our yard, so I don't know if it works. But you asked for ideas......
Stink.
Kev won't go for that. We just put up a new fence last Spring. No way will he cut into it.
